The Oily Truth: What
The Oily Truth: What "Refined" Really Means for Your Health

Let's talk about the most overlooked ingredient in your kitchen: cooking oil.

It’s in almost everything you cook. You sauté with it, fry with it, and dress your salads with it. You probably grab a bottle labeled "refined" without a second thought, assuming it means "cleaner" or "better."

But here’s the uncomfortable question the industry doesn't want you to ask: Refined from what, and with what?

At Pure & Sure, we believe you deserve to know the whole story. The truth is, not all oils are made the same. The difference between the bottle of "refined" oil and a bottle of Organic Cold-Pressed oil isn't just the price tag—it’s an entirely different world of processing.

Let's peel back the label and see what's really going on.

The "Refined" Reality: Heat, Hexane, and Hidden Chemicals

The conventional oil industry has one main goal: get the maximum amount of oil out of every seed. How do they do it? It’s not pretty.

They use a chemical extraction method.

  1. High Heat: The seeds are subjected to incredibly high temperatures. This heat damages the oil's natural structure and degrades its nutrients.

  2. Chemical Solvents: To squeeze out every last drop, they bathe the crushed seeds in powerful chemical solvents, most commonly hexane. Yes, that’s a chemical found in gasoline.

Why do they do this? Simple math. This aggressive process extracts more oil. From 100 kg of seeds, they can get about ~42-45 kg of refined oil.

The Cost? This harsh industrial process strips away the oil's natural nutrients, flavor, and aroma. Even worse, it can leave behind chemical traces of solvents like hexane in the final product you consume.

So, "refined" doesn't mean pure. It often means chemically treated, stripped down, and potentially contaminated.

The Pure & Sure Way: Cold-Pressed and Uncompromised

We take a different path. A harder one, but the only one that makes sense for your health.

Our Organic Cold-Pressed oils are made using a Natural extraction method that respects the ingredient.

  • NO High Heat: We use mechanical pressure to slowly press the oil from the seeds. The temperature is kept low, preserving the oil's integrity.

  • NO Chemicals: Absolutely no hexane or other chemical solvents are ever used. It's just the seed and pressure.

The Result? We get less oil—only about ~30-35 kg from the same 100 kg of seeds. But what we do get is pure liquid gold.

By avoiding high heat and chemicals, our cold-pressed oils retain their natural nutrient profile, distinct flavor, and aroma. It is, quite literally, "just the oil nature intended".

The Choice is Yours: Quantity or Quality?
