Say hello to Shankar Patil, an organic farmer from Huvinahadagali, a quiet village in Ballari, Karnataka. Farming runs deep in his family-three generations have grown toor dal on this very land. But nine years ago, Shankar made a big shift. He gave up chemicals and turned to organic farming. "At first, I wasn't sure it would work. But I saw the soil come alive again. The plants looked healthier. And the taste? Better than ever" And that's what you're holding in your hands-his harvest, full of care and tradition.

Your dal comes from the Kalaburagi-Ballari belt in Northern Karnataka, known for its rich, black cotton soil - perfect for growing pulses. This year’s monsoon showed up fashionably late in June, but stayed steady through the season. Thanks to the soil’s moisture-retaining magic and natural water management methods like rainwater harvesting, the crop did beautifully.
Come October, Shankar harvested a batch of golden-yellow toor dal, rich in flavour, texture, and nutrition.
